Cabaret: A Fashion Editorial for Falcon Magazine
When I saw the comp card of model Lilli Clewing sent to me by her Vienna-based modeling agency Tempo Models, I knew I had to work with her. Her modern yet classic features prompted the idea for an elegant, timeless concept for which I knew my talented makeup artist Vanessa Standhartinger would be perfect. Together with Ukrainian stylist Anna Romanko we dove into the studio on a still cold April afternoon to put several fashion looks together.
The idea was to keep the visual setups classic, uncluttered, but still visually interesting without being too repetitive in the lighting and composition, adding a little bit of motion blur or floating fabric, while letting the styling and the model take center stage.
As we wrapped up our final looks for this editorial, I experimented a bit with painting with light, as I had always loved the results but never fully dared to experiment with it with a full team watching anxiously as the results slowly trickle in through the tethering cable for what seems like a small eternity compared to the immediacy of regular flash photography. I was happy they added a bit of a surreal dimension, and that some were included by the editors in this fashion series.
